Date: 10/24/2024
Deadline: 12/18/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On October 24, 2024, USDA announced that it has made $34 million available to fund grants to support forestry sector innovation and jobs. The grants will be distributed through three grant programs administered by the USDA Forest Service: the Wood Innovations, Community Wood, and Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grant Programs. The grants will be used to fund innovation that will increase the sustainability of forest product industries. They will also help to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risk. Project proposals are due by December 11, 2024 for the Wood Innovations Grant Program and December 18, 2024 for the Community Wood and Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grant Programs. Additional information regarding project proposals can be found here.

The three grant programs are funded by IRA section 23002, which appropriated money to support forest climate mitigation activities.
