USDA Announces $1.5 Billion in Regional Conservation Partnership Program Awards

Date: 10/24/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On October 24, 2024, USDA announced that it has awarded $1.5 billion in IRA and Farm Bill funds for 92 partner-driven conservation and climate solution projects through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). The project awards are under both the (1) RCPP Classic projects, which are implemented using NRCS contracts and easements with producers, landowners and communities in collaboration with project partners; and (2) RCPP Alternative Funding Arrangements, which involve direct collaboration between the lead partner and agricultural producers to develop innovative conservation approaches that would not be available under RCPP Classic. $100 million of the funds were also reserved for Tribal-led projects. This funding opportunity was originally announced in April 2024.

The RCPP awards are funded by the Farm Bill and IRA section 21001, which appropriates funds to support climate smart agricultural conservation investments.
