On September 10, 2024, USDA announced that it will invest $100 million in 21 projects across 14 states related to the Forest Service’s Wildfire Crisis Strategy. The Wildfire Crisis Strategy launched in 2022 and seeks to reduce the threat of wildfires to communities and resources by expanding hazardous fuel treatments.
These projects are funded by both the IRA and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. IRA funding comes through the Collaborative Wildfire Risk Reduction Program. IRA section 23001 appropriates funding to address hazardous fuels on National Forest System land.
