USDA Announces $124 Million for Rural Energy for America Program Renewable Energy and Fertilizer Production Projects

Date: 03/28/2024
Deadline: 09/30/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On March 28, 2024, USDA announced $124 million for 541 renewable energy and fertilizer production projects in 44 states. Most of the projects are funded through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), and section 22002 of the IRA appropriates funding to USDA to provide grants and loans under REAP. Projects include the installation of three 15-kilowatt (kW) wind turbines at a grain storage facility at Darr Grain in Nebraska, the installation of a 40.95 kW roof mount solar system at Moorit Hill Farm in Maine, and the installation of a biomass furnace to heat cabins and mountain lodging facilities at Boulder Creek Oz in Idaho. USDA continues to accept REAP applications and will hold funding competitions quarterly through September 30, 2024.
