USDA Announces $145 Million to Help Forest Landowners Access Emerging Climate Markets

On March 15, 2024, USDA announced almost $145 million in IRA section 23002 funds to connect forest landowners with emerging climate markets. $116 million of the funds will go to twenty Forest Landowner Support projects to provide equitable access to these emerging markets with awardees representing or supporting underserved landowners located in or providing benefits to disadvantaged communities. $29 million will go to states and territories to aid in their development of technical assistance programs that connect underserved landowners to incentives, programs and markets. Proposals for projects up to $2 million will be accepted through August 21, 2024.
