USDA Announces $20 Million in Funding to Reduce Wildfire Risk

Date: 11/13/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On November 13, 2024, USDA’s Forest Service announced that it had awarded $20 million to 66 projects across 13 states to support wildfire risk reduction. The funds will be used to remove hazardous fuels from forests and bring them to processing facilities where they can be used to make wood products or for energy.

This funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and IRA section 23001, which appropriated funds to USDA for national forest system restoration, including through hazardous fuels reduction projects.
