IRA Section 50302 – FERC Efficient and Effective Environmental Reviews

Section 50302 of the IRA appropriates $100 million to the FERC to hire and train personnel, develop programmatic documents, procure services, develop data and information systems, engage stakeholders and community, and purchase analysis equipment for timely and efficient environmental reviews and authorizations. The costs incurred by FERC in carrying out these activities are exempt from the fee collection requirements imposed by 42 U.S.C. § 7178, which governs other costs incurred by FERC.

The funds appropriated under section 50302 will remain available until September 30, 2031.

Implementation Status at End of Biden Administration:

Complete

Section 50302 of the IRA appropriates $100 million to FERC to hire and train personnel, develop programmatic documents, procure services, develop data and information systems, engage stakeholders and community, and purchase analysis equipment for timely and efficient environmental reviews and authorizations. Funds to be used by September 30, 2031. These are administrative funds and have been fully allocated to FERC. Since no other allocations are required under the statute, implementation is complete.
