On January 8, 2025, DOE’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) and EPA announced $6 million in funding for three projects: Air Company Holdings in Brooklyn, NY (Biogenic Carbon Dioxide to Drop-in Sustainable Aviation Fuel), Erg Bio Inc. in Dublin, CA (Demonstration of the ASPIRE Feedstock Flexible Biomass Deconstruction and Conversion Technology at the Pre-pilot Scale) and Terragia Biofuels in Hanover, NH (Continuous Conversion of Corn Stover to Ethanol Using Engineered Thermophilic Bacteria). These projects will support biofuel research, aligning with the EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard program and BETO’s Billion-Ton 2023 analysis on domestic renewable biological sources.
These projects are funded by IRA section 60108, appropriating resources to EPA for biofuel research and development.
