On October 8, 2024, GSA announced that it had awarded a $33.2 million contract to T1-RJS Joint Venture, a Native American-owned firm, for a design and build project to expand the Pacific Highway Land Port of Entry in Washington. Part of the project involves the use of low-embodied carbon concrete and steel to construct new lanes and canopies.
The construction project is funded with $25 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and $8 million from IRA section 60503, which appropriated funds to GSA to support the use of low-carbon building materials in federal facilities.
