On November 19, 2024, GSA announced a $471,000 award to Houser Walker Architecture, a small business based in Georgia, to design a streetscape project for the front of the Clyde Atkins U.S. Courthouse in Miami, Florida. The project will include improvements to the site’s lighting, landscaping, and traffic flow. In the process, the new landscape, with perimeter trees, new pavement and lighting, will address stormwater issues and decrease the heat-island effect resulting from the existing concrete surfaces.
The contract is funded by IRA sections 60503 and 60504, which appropriated funds to GSA to support the use of low-carbon building materials and expand sustainable technologies and programs in federal facilities.
