GSA Announces Over $16 Million in IRA Funds for Sustainable Improvements at a Pittsburgh Courthouse

Date: 03/27/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On March 27, 2024, GSA announced over $16 million in IRA funds for improvements to the Joseph F. Weis, Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Pittsburgh. The funds will go towards completing critical repairs to the building’s loading dock using low embodied-carbon (LEC) materials like asphalt, concrete and steel. These investments are in furtherance of the Biden Administration’s Federal Buy Clean Initiative, and this project is one of over 150 LEC projects announced by GSA in November 2023. Section 60503 of the IRA appropriates $2.15 billion to the Federal Buildings Fund to acquire and install low greenhouse gas emissions materials and products in GSA buildings.
