HUD Announces $173 Million for Green and Resilient Retrofit Program

Date: 03/28/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On March 28, 2024, HUD announced $173 million in grants and loans through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). These are the first GRRP retrofit awards in the states of Colorado, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, and Washington and will support energy efficiency and climate resilience renovations. The 25 selected properties are part of HUD’s Multifamily project-based rental assistance programs for low-income individuals, families, and seniors. The GRRP is funded through section 30002 of the IRA, “Improving Energy Efficiency or Water Efficiency or Climate resilience of Affordable Housing,” which authorizes HUD to take a number of actions to improve the climate resiliency of eligible properties.
