On November 1, 2024, HUD announced that it had awarded $3.2 million to Savannah Gardens Senior Residences in Savannah, Georgia for energy efficiency and climate resilience upgrades. The property contains more than 39 affordable rental homes. Upgrades to the property can include insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, efficient heating and cooling, or a number of other resiliency measures.
This funding was available through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). GRRP is a direct loan and grant program, which was created and funded by IRA section 30002 to support projects that would improve the energy efficiency and climate resilience of the recipient-properties.
