On November 25, 2024, HUD announced that it had awarded $6.5 million through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP) for projects in three states. First, HUD awarded $314,268 to the Foxwell Memorial Apartments in Baltimore, Maryland. Second, it awarded $750,000 to Concord and Royal Gardens in Concord, New Hampshire. Third, it awarded $5.5 million to Greenspire Apartments in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The funding will be used for energy efficiency and climate resilience upgrades. Collectively, the properties contain almost 400 rental homes for low-income families and individuals. Upgrades to the properties can include insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, efficient heating and cooling, or a number of other resiliency measures.
GRRP is a direct loan and grant program, which was created and funded by IRA section 30002 to support projects that would improve the energy efficiency and climate resilience of the recipient-properties.
