HUD Announces $750,000 in Funding for Maryland Housing Upgrades Through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program

On October 22, 2024, HUD announced that it had awarded $750,000 million to Wakefield Terrace in Waldorf, Maryland for energy efficiency and climate resilience upgrades. The Wakefield Terrace property contains affordable rental housing for 204 families. Upgrades to the property will include the installation of solar panels, air source heat pumps, hot water heat pumps, and more.

This funding was available through the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). GRRP is a direct loan and grant program, which was created and funded by IRA section 30002 to support projects that would improve the energy efficiency and climate resilience of the recipient-properties.
