HUD Announces New Round of Funding Under the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program

On December 21, 2023, HUD announced it is awarding $173.9 million in loans and grants under the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program’s Comprehensive and Elements categories. This funding will go towards 30 HUD-assisted multifamily properties that include 3,070 rental homes for low-income individuals and families. These awards include the first set of awards made under the GRRP’s Comprehensive category, which provides support to properties with the most need for climate resilience and energy efficiency upgrades. The funding also includes the second set of awards under the GRRP’s Elements category, which provides support to property owners to include climate resilience and energy and water efficiency improvements as part of ongoing development or rehabilitation transactions. IRA section 30002 provides funding for GRRP.
