HUD Issues Updated Guidance on Benefits for On-Site and Community Solar at Multifamily Assisted Housing

On August 4, 2023, HUD published updated guidance to make it easier for HUD Multifamily Assisted Housing program participants to understand financial benefits received from participation in community solar energy programs or on-site solar facilities. The guidance includes unchanged policies administered by HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing and Office of Multifamliy Housing Programs, as well as expansions including guidance for Public Housing Authorities in using solar credits for buildings with master metered utility accounts and stating that guidance applies to HUD Multifamily Assisted Housing program properties with rooftop/on-site solar facilities. The programs receive funding from IRA section 30002.
