Type: Rollback of IRA
On March 14, 2025, President Trump signed H.J.Res.35, a joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act, into law, voiding EPA’s final rule on methane waste emissions. The methane rule was issued pursuant to IRA section 60113, which requires EPA to address methane emissions from the oil and gas sector by assessing a fee on polluters whose waste exceeds emissions intensity levels set by Congress.
The CRA resolution was introduced on February 4, 2025 by Representative August Pfluger (R-TX) and passed by Congress on February 27, 2025.
