On October 29, 2024, USDA announced 39 grant awards totaling $39 million to increase the availability of affordable domestic biofuels in 18 states. The funding comes through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) with the purpose of increasing use of higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel through infrastructure development. The grants will “help business owners install and upgrade infrastructure such as fuel pumps, dispensers and storage tanks.”
These grant are funded by IRA section 22003, which appropriated money for biofuel infrastructure and market expansion grants.
