On January 10, 2025, USDA announced funding for 586 projects in 45 states and territories to expand access to clean energy systems and increase the availability of domestic biofuels. The investments will create new market and employment opportunities for farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers across the country. The funding is provided through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) and the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
REAP is funded by IRA section 22002, which appropriated funds to USDA to award grants and loans to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in rural communities. HBIIP is funded by IRA section 22003, which appropriated fund to USDA to award grants for biofuel infrastructure and market expansion.
