Type: Implementation of IRA
On August 17, 2023, DHS and GSA announced the construction of three DHS Headquarters projects to be funded by $288 million from the IRA. The projects include the relocation of CISA Headquarters and ICE Headquarters to the St. Elizabeths campus, as well as a new parking garage. The projects will use new green technologies and low-embodied carbon concrete, steel, and asphalt as part of President Biden’s Buy Clean Initiative. IRA section 60502 funds the conversion of federal facilities into high-performance green buildings, section 60503 funds GSA acquisition and installation of low embodied carbon construction materials and products, and section 60504 for emerging and sustainable technologies.
