Type: Implementation of IRA
On December 22, 2025, DOI’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) published a modified record of decision for oil and gas Lease Sale 258 for Alaska’s outer continental shelf. IRA section 50264 required that BOEM hold Lease Sale 258, along with two other oil and gas lease sales. BOEM issued its initial record of decision on the lease sale in November 2022. In response to a lawsuit challenging the initial decision, BOEM prepared a supplemental environmental impact statement and has affirmed Lease Sale 258 as it was held in 2022.
