Date: 12/16/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On December 16, 2024, GSA announced a $264 million contract award to Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, a Birmingham, Alabama-based firm, to design and construct a modernization project at the Brownsville-Gateway Land Port of Entry. The project will use low-embodied carbon construction materials and will be all-electric with water-saving and energy-efficiency features.

The contract is funded with $213.5 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and $50 million from IRA sections 60502, 60503, and 60504, which appropriated funds to GSA to build green federal buildings, support the use of low-carbon building materials, and expand sustainable technologies and programs in federal facilities.
