On January 13, 2024, GSA announced a $183 million contract award to Ameresco to implement electrification and energy conservation measures at the Denver Federal Center in Colorado. The project will use low-embodied carbon materials and will modernize the Center’s energy infrastructure. The improvements are expected to reduce grid-purchased energy by 51% and water usage by 10%.
$140 million of the contract is funded by IRA sections 60502, 60503, and 60504, which appropriated funds to GSA to build green federal buildings, support the use of low-carbon building materials, and expand sustainable technologies and programs in federal facilities.
